Hansika Motwani could have mugged Telugu dialogues for the first time, but she is a veteran as far as TV serials and Hindi movies are concerned. Her over the top performance in Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand is something people will not forget so easily. She has worked in many other serials like Shakalaka Boom Boom, Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, etc., and has bagged atleast 13 awards as a child artiste. Now barely into her teens, Hansika has already signed umpteen films and is raring to go. Desamuduru has just released and the actress reels of statistics, “It has broken Pokiri’s record in terms of collection in the first week.”
Hansika loves doing commercials and says she was too young when she had worked for the Santro ad with Shah Rukh Khan. Her mother is a doctor, a skin and a hair specialist. Her client Juhi Chawla suggested that she opted for a filmi career and then the rest is history. “I had worked in hindi films like Jagoo, Aabra Ka Daabra, Koi Mil Gaya but Desamuduru was a different experience. Lavanya didi, Puri sir’s wife helped me a lot. We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, sang a lot of Punjabi and Marathi songs and I never felt I worked for a South film. We shot over for 45 days in Manali with 250 people and it was great. They keep calling now and then to ask if the film has released and that they want to watch it.”
Hansika is in Plus One and balances her career remarkably well. She says, “My principal is very supportive, she believes that talent can’t spring from classrooms alone. My subjects have been very student friendly and I did get a promotion too. I have tutors to help me out as well.” Coming back to Desamuduru, Hansika says she hardly speaks in the film because she plays the role of a sanyasin and the very few lines she has been given was managed well. “The dialogues were written by Puri. I can barely speak Telugu but I have learnt to say ‘konchem konchem’ and ‘photo kavali’.”
Hansika adds, “Arjun was amazing in the film. I too tried dancing but wasn’t upto the mark, I hope to better my work in my next film. My mum is my biggest critic, she said I was good for the first film but I can still be better and I need to polish my acting skills. Myself and my friends, fifty of us all went in a bus to see the movie and it did get a terrific response, the first three days were jam-packed.” Hansika lives in Andheri and she says her house is the most popular one in the lane, it is called Hansika House, named
after her. Ask her to describe herself she says, “I hate interference and I don’t interfere in others lives. My motto is hurt never help ever.”
